Ahavas Chessed day 1833 by Eli Solomon

L'ilui nishmas Yechezkel ben Yisroel Shulem u'Zvi Yehudah ben Avraham Yitzchok A"H

There was once a young boy who had the "fortune" to have his father as his third grade Rebbi. The father called his son over one day right before the school year and said "sheifeleh, I just want to explain to you that here at home I'm your father, but when we get to class, I am your Rebbi, and I expect you to act properly as I expect from the rest of the class." One day this young boy was acting up in class. The "Rebbi" warned him, but after the second time, he called him up to his desk and gave him one right across the face. Of course the boy was devastated. Later that day, he had to walk home with his "father," and his father noticed that he was dragging his feet walking several feet behind him. "Sheifeleh," he called out "what's bothering you." The boy looked up at his father and said "tatty, can u please tell my Rebbi not to hit me anymore."
Over these last few days leading up to tommorow night, we daven every day and we say "Avinu Malkeinu." A possible explanation is that the Abishter also has that dual role, he is our tatty, and he is also our king. We look up to him and we ask "King, please be our father. Please have rachmonus on us like a father on his beloved children. Please take care of us this year. Be moichel all of our aveirois, we are really good deep down. The way we've acted these last few days is how we really want to be the rest of the year. Chamoil al maasechah, we are coming to you k'dalim U'croshim." We need a year of brochah and hatzlocha, and we know You are the only one that can give that to us. Avinu Malkeinu...
I want to wish all a gmar chasimah toivah and git g'benched yur. May we have a year of only simchah and nachas and hatzlocha. And may this year be the end to all of our tzorois. Kein yihee rotzoin. (Story from R' Binyomin Eisenberger)
